1. Information you give us
- Account details: your name, username, email address and password, or the details Apple or Google share when you sign in with them
- Profile details: your photo, country, and, if you add them, your phone number, school, course, subjects and bio
- Your content: notes, files, whiteboards, notebooks, voice recordings and transcripts, quizzes and flashcards
- Community activity: communities you create or join, messages, files you share, quiz scores and reports you send
- AI Coach chats: what you type to the coach and the ratings you give its answers
- Bug reports and feedback: what you write, and any screenshots or files you attach
- Purchases: if you subscribe to Notaro Pro, the App Store or Google Play tells us which plan you bought and whether it is active, so we can unlock Pro features. Payments are handled by Apple or Google; we never receive your card or other payment details
2. Information collected when you use Notaro
- Location: only if you allow it, and only while you use the app, to show study communities near you. Notaro works without it
- Microphone and photos: only when you record a voice note or pick a picture. Notaro only receives the recordings and pictures you choose to save or upload
- Device details sent with a bug report: the app version, operating system and device model
- Basic usage and diagnostic information needed to keep the Service running and secure, such as sign-in times and error logs
3. How we use it
- To provide the Service: store and sync your content, run communities, study rooms and quizzes
- To run AI features you ask for, after you allow sharing with AI
- To keep Notaro safe: review reports and blocks, enforce the Terms of use and Community guidelines, and prevent abuse
- To fix bugs and improve the app
- To contact you about your account, security, or changes to these terms
4. AI features
The AI Coach, quiz generation and smart transcription run on a third-party AI service. Before any of them sends your content, Notaro asks for your permission. If you allow it, only the content needed for the request is sent: what you type, the notes and files you pick, or the voice note you want transcribed. It is used to produce your answer, quiz or transcript.
You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Share content with AI. The AI features then ask again before sending anything.
5. Who we share it with
We only share your information:
- With other users, when you choose to: your profile and whatever you post or share in a community is visible to its members
- With service providers that help us run Notaro, such as hosting, file storage, real-time chat, push notifications, the AI service, and Apple or Google for subscriptions. They may only use it to provide their service to us
- When the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users or others
- If Notaro is merged or sold, with the new owner, who must keep protecting it under this notice
6. How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete something, or delete your account from Settings → Delete account, it is removed from the Service and then from our backups within a limited period. We may keep some information longer where the law requires it, or to deal with a report or abuse.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, including under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012, you have the right to:
- Access the information we hold about you and get a copy of it
- Correct information that is wrong
- Delete your information, which you can do yourself by deleting your account
- Withdraw consent, such as turning off location or sharing with AI
- Object to or ask us to limit how we use your information
- Complain to your data protection authority, such as the Philippine National Privacy Commission
8. Security
Your information is sent over encrypted connections and access to it is limited to what’s needed to run the Service. No system is perfectly secure, so keep your sign-in details private and tell us if you think your account was accessed without permission.
9. Children
Notaro is not for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we’ll delete it.
10. International transfers
Our service providers may store and process information outside your country. When they do, we require them to protect it in line with this notice and applicable law.
11. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
12. Contact
