1. Be respectful
Treat other members the way you’d want to be treated in a study group. Do not post:
- Harassment, bullying, insults or intimidation aimed at anyone
- Hate speech or content attacking people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age
- Threats of violence, or content that encourages self-harm
- Other people’s private information, such as their address, phone number or photos, without their permission
2. Keep it appropriate
Notaro is used by students of many ages. Do not post:
- Sexual or sexually suggestive content, or nudity
- Graphic violence or gore
- Content that promotes illegal drugs, weapons or other illegal activity
3. No spam, scams or harmful links
- Don’t flood channels with repeated or off-topic messages
- Don’t advertise, sell or promote products or services without the community owner’s permission
- Don’t share phishing links, malware or files meant to harm devices or accounts
- Don’t pretend to be another person, a school or Notaro
4. Study honestly
Sharing notes and helping each other learn is what communities are for. Helping someone cheat is not. Do not share live exam or quiz content, answer keys that aren’t meant to be public, or complete graded work for someone else. Follow your school’s academic integrity rules.
5. Respect copyright
Only share files you made or have the right to share. Don’t upload paid textbooks, course materials your school doesn’t allow you to share, or other people’s work without permission. Copyright owners can report infringing files to Notaro.
6. Community rules
Each community can set its own extra rules, which members agree to when they join. Community rules can add to these guidelines but never override them.
7. Reporting and blocking
If you see something that breaks these guidelines, report it: long-press a message or open a file’s menu and choose Report. You can send a report to the community’s admins, to Notaro’s moderators, or both.
You can also block anyone from their message or from the member list. You won’t see their messages or shared files anywhere in Notaro, and they aren’t told you blocked them. Blocking someone also lets Notaro’s moderators know, so they can review what they posted.
8. What happens when rules are broken
Notaro reviews reports within 24 hours. Depending on how serious the violation is, we may remove the content, warn the person who posted it, suspend their account, or permanently ban them from Notaro. Community owners and moderators can also remove messages, kick members or ban them from their community.
We may report content that puts someone in danger, or that is illegal, to the authorities.
9. Contact
Questions about these guidelines or a moderation decision can be sent to support@notaro.study.
